Flee from the Wrath To Come

“And God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.” (Genesis 6:13 NKJV)

“And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which [is] the breath of life; everything that [is] on the earth shall die. But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.” (Genesis 6:17-18 NKJV)

“Then the LORD said to Noah, "Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen [that] you [are] righteous before Me in this generation.” (Genesis 7:1 NKJV)

“Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.” (Genesis 7:17 NKJV)

“And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils [was] the breath of the spirit of life, all that [was] on the dry [land], died.” (Genesis 7:21-22 NKJV)

“And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days. Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that [were] with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.” (Genesis 7:24-8:1 NKJV)

Our God is God. No one can stay His hand. No one can give Him counsel. His judgments are fierce, and His power is terrible. Only does His grace and mercy compare to His wrath.

Here is a lesson for us. God is always merciful to His righteous children. All the earth was wicked save one man, Noah. Therefore, as God takes away the wicked He preserves the righteous.

Are you a righteous man? If you are, then you have nothing to fear from the Lord. He knows how to keep His own. He will never leave you nor forsake you.

However, if you are like the wicked men who scoff at God and His children, then fear you should. Our God is a terrible God whose wrath no one can stand. There is no place to go from His presence. There is no way to hide your sins from the One who discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart (Heb 4:12).

Why should you perish? God has said whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Rom 10:13). Forsake your wickedness and turn to God in faith. What you are clinging to is a fantasy, a lie that leads to eternal torment.

He gave His life to redeem sinners. Admit that you are a sinner, and take His yoke upon you. Deny yourself take up your cross and follow Him. The things of this world are not worthy to be compared to the mercies of heaven.

The Lord will return again to judge. However, even if He tarries, when you leave this world you will be judged. Seek Him while He may be found, and escape His wrath. Amen.
