Ten Reasons for Unanswered Prayer

People sometimes struggle in prayer because they never seem to get any answers. Did you know there are many reasons for unanswered prayer? Could it be that your prayers are being hinder by one of the following?

Wrong Motives
You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.” (James 4:2 NKJV)

Sin
“Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden [His] face from you, So that He will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:1-2 NKJV)

Stinginess
“Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor Will also cry himself and not be heard.” (Proverbs 21:13 NKJV)

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38 NKJV)

Un-forgiveness
“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25 NKJV)

Wrong Relationship with Spouse
“Husbands, likewise, dwell with [them] with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as [being] heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.” (1 Peter 3:7 NKJV)

Wrong Relationship with a Brother
“Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, "leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” (Matthew 5:23-24 NKJV)

Indifference Towards the Scripture
“One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer [is] an abomination.” (Proverbs 28:9 NKJV)

Unbelief
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;” (James 1:5-7 NKJV)

No Needs
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:26 NKJV)

Not Asking
“You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.” (James 4:2 NKJV)

Examine yourself before you go to the throne of grace. You might find that you have a number of issues to confess in prayer before you petition God for other things.
