Cling to the Promises

“For all the promises of God in Him [are] Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV)

Whoever said, “Lighting never strikes the same place twice” ought to live in this writer’s house. It has been hit several times and it usually knocks out the internet. Such was the case this morning.

This causes one to ponder the providence of God. What a miraculous thing it is for Christ to have fulfilled, to the tee, the predictions of His death, burial, and resurrection. If God is so in control of this world, why do believers worry about things they have absolutely no control over?

It could be that believers are too soon wondering from the promises of God. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Dear friend go to the promises of God to build faith. It is out of sequence to seek faith without first seeking the Word.

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.
