Talk Peace

“He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates friends” (Proverbs 17:9 NKJV).

Here probably more than any other place is the influence of the flesh realized. The unregenerate part of the believer loves to speak of evil. It loves to elevate self by destroying others. James puts it like this, “. . . the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity . . . and it is set on fire by hell.” (James 3:6 NKJV)

My dear friend I challenge you to note how many times today you say negative things to or about others. I heard Alistair Begg on the radio speaking on this subject. He said he wondered if we stopped speaking evil of things or each other if anyone would have anything to say. He supposed that there would be a lot of silence while people thought of something to say. The significance of that is clear. Negative speech is natural! Think about that today and talk peace!
