The Difference between True Grace and the Demons’ Experience

“You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe——and tremble!” (James 2:19 NKJV)

The question that comes to mind is, “What is the difference between the demon’s experience and that of the Christian?” The demons believe in God to the point that they tremble in fear of Him.

In fact, the demons in the Bible acknowledge Christ’s divinity and fall down before Him. Satan was well acquainted with God in that he had access to heaven, which is seen, in his attack against Job. Therefore, the problem with the demons was not a lack of facts, but a lack of proper attitude. They know who God is, but they hate God.

The Christian experience sees God in His perfections. He is holy, just, and good. The believer cries out to his Father whom he loves.

Make sure that you are not deceived by a false sense of peace. When a person believes he has escaped the judgment of God, he will be happy. However, the true light exposes a person’s condition and causes a change in his experience. Therefore, James points out, “. . . that faith without works is dead?” (James 2:20 NKJV)

Therefore, Christ must be precious to you. He must be so precious to you that you will not offend Him if at all possible. You will hate sin and love God. Without this kind of light, there is reason to keep searching.
