Walk Worthy of Your Calling
“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:1-3 NKJV)
Walk worthy of your calling. Boy, how many times do we fail to follow this admonition? I don’t know about you, but I am constantly seeing how far short I come of the walk I know My Lord wants for me. The things mentioned in our text often trip me up. Not being gentle, not being longsuffering, and not bearing other’s are all byproducts of a life not controlled by the Spirit. Oh how the Spirit of God must grieve when we yield to the flesh. Forgive us Lord our infirmities.
I will repeat myself as it is likely that many may not have read the devotion on spiritual warfare because of its length. Spiritual warfare requires the use of appropriate means. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God to the pulling down of strongholds. Those weapons are The Word of God, Meditation, and Prayer.
The Word of God is the instrument of change, meditation is the vehicle that drives the Word deep into the heart and prayer ignites the fire giving it power to burn away the dross.
My dear friends look to heaven if you find your attitudes and actions don’t line up with the known will of God. “For the word of God [is] living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things [are] naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we [must give] account.” (Hebrews 4:12-13 NKJV)
