The Father To Whom You Pray

Is Faithful

“For you [are] a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Therefore know that the LORD your God, He [is] God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments” (Deuteronomy 7:6-9 NKJV).

It is no small thing to be faithful. Men are always turning from their promises. I am sure things are cyclical, but with my generation, it is considered wrong to break a promise. Today’s generation seems to think that it is better to lie to someone than to say, “Sorry I can’t do that.” Maybe they are afraid of offending someone by telling them no. I guess they don’t realize that people see through their later excuse as just another lie to cover the first one.

Praise the Lord there is no shadow of turning with God. He is faithful! If you look carefully at the passage above, you will notice a promise.

He will never break His covenant, and will never cease to be merciful to those who love Him and keep His commandments.

Now you are on your own if you don’t love Him and keep His commandments. “If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear” (Psalms 66:18 NKJV). So, don’t think God is not faithful if you pray and don’t get your answer. The problem is with you. Either you are too worldly to hear His answer or else He is not listening because of your sin.

Therefore, take God by faith. Believe Him and trust Him to be faithful. “. . . The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16). If you love the Lord and keep His commandments, you have no reason to fear anything in this world.

If you perish, into the arms of God you go. If you remain, He will provide all that you need.
